This project is inspired by Post Impressionist still life painting. Focusing on the particular style of SJ Peploe, one of a group of Scottish artists working and studying in Post Impressionist Paris. It was a time of great innovation and experimentation in art, drawing on many influences and styles, many of which often feature still life.
Working from real objects where possible, Still life is a great way to improve your observational skills and decision making. Learn to create a background and composition, and paint using a combination of impressionist brush strokes and paint effects to depict elements of a table set for tea.
This project is divided into 2 videos:

Tea table Still Life Part 1 – preparation, drawing and underpainting. (25 mins)
Tea table still life Part 2 – tone and detail – building and finishing your painting.
